It has often been said that curry is the new national dish of Britain and it’s certainly easy to see why.
Since the 1970s, curry houses have become a staple of high streets up and down the country and millions of curries are consumed every single week. The love affair shows no signs of slowing and that’s what we’re celebrating with National Curry Week!
This year will be the 22nd National Curry Week and they’re committed to making it bigger and better than ever.

Goat Curry – Turtle Bay
Goat curry is often associated with India, it is also popular in Jamaica, being brought to the island in the 17th century by East Indian indentured workers brought in by the colonial British. Goat meat is also very popular in Jamaica, so curry goat is high on the list of favourites.
Green Thai Curry - Banana Tree
Green curry evolved during the reign of King Rama VI or Rama VII, between the years 1908-1926. This curry is made with coconut milk and fresh green chillies, the colour comes out creamy mild green. The curry is not necessarily sweeter than other Thai curries but, although the spiciness varies, it tends to be more pungent than the milder red curries.
Palak Paneer - Maaya
Palak paneer is a vegetarian dish, originated in the northern region of India, but variations are popular all over India. Palak, in Hindi, means spinach so palak paneer is a spinach curry with sautéed paneer. Other ingredients include diced onions, chopped tomatoes and whole or chopped green chillies.
Jackfruit Curry – Las Iguanas
Jackfruit Curry is native to Southeast Asia, It’s a common dish in India, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and many other South Asian countries. Jackfruit is a versatile fruit and has been trending lately as a meat substitute because the fruit has a texture similar to meat or poultry.
