Sweat Studios wins Small Business of the Year

Milton Keynes’ hottest fitness studio has landed the prestigious title of Best Small Business at a top awards ceremony for the second year in a row.

Successful yoga studio Sweat Studios, based at The Hub, Central Milton Keynes, scooped the winners title beating a record number of entrants in the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards 2018, held at The Ballroom, Hilton Hotel, Stadium MK.

Sweat Studios, who celebrate their fourth birthday this month, have also been named as a finalist in the Buckinghamshire SME Awards in the Best Business in Milton Keynes, Best Customer Service and Best Employer categories. They will discover their fate at a glistening awards ceremony at Double Tree by Hilton Hotel on Thursday, April 6. The team who brought home the Best Business in Milton Keynes trophy in 2017, as well as being named the overall winners on the night, are hopeful for a repeat of their success.

Kirsty Lowe, director, said: “We are delighted to have been named Best Small Business in Milton Keynes once again, particularly given the tough competition from other finalists.

“As last years’ winners we couldn’t rest on our past achievements. We needed to show that we had continued to drive our business forwards in 2017. We’re glad that the judges felt us worthy of the accolade for a second time.

“As always we want to thank our members for their ongoing support and helping us to grow a thriving independent local business. We couldn’t do it without them!”

Sweat Studios, was opened by Kirsty Lowe in March 2014, who first discovered the benefits of yoga close to 20 years ago.

After quitting her job as a marketing head in an investment bank, Kirsty qualified as a yoga teacher and set about opening a studio that offered the friendly, approachable and no-nonsense yoga experience that she enjoyed but struggled to find.

Kirsty said: “I am hugely proud of what we’ve achieved over the last year. Not only have we continued to offer a great fitness product, we have diversified our business to offer yoga teacher training. We were delighted to graduate our first cohort of trained instructors last July and are currently in the process of training 12 more. We’re so pleased that the majority of these trainees are members of the studio, so inspired by what we do to want to make it their career.

We have also taken our classes into some of Milton Keynes’ most well known companies, driving forward our commitment to improve the health and wellbeing of the town’s residents.”

Sweat’s ethos is to demystify yoga, making it accessible to all and giving everybody the means to live longer, happier, healthier lives. Their approach is clearly working; during 2017 they welcomed over 1,500 new clients and continue to outperfom industry benchmarks in customer satisfaction and client retention.

Classes take place in a state of the art, temperature and humidity controlled studio. Sweat specialises in hot yoga which boosts muscle dexterity and detoxification and delivers a cardiovascular workout. However, the studio also caters to those looking for non-heated, gentler classes aimed at promoting overall health and wellbeing.
